On March 12th, 2008, the Yukon Regional Committee met
to  gain momentum for IAIA WNC and brainstorm events
that would be interesting to people professionally involved
in environmental impact assessment and environmental
management.  Regional director Travis Ritchie met with
Scott Heron, Rosanna White, Rob Walker, Mark Nelson,
and Simon Lapointe in Whitehorse.

The focus of this meeting was on introductions,
reaffirmation of interest in such an organization by
participants, brainstorming on how regional committee can
contribute to EA in Yukon, possible events, and member
recruitment.

You can view the minutes of the meeting
here.
Why establish a Yukon Chapter?

The motivation for establishing a Yukon Chapter of the WNC is to provide
opportunities for exploration of impact assessment issues wherein assessment
practitioners, process contributors, and other interested persons can come
together in a non-partisan manner to improve the understanding and practice of
impact assessment.

If you have any questions or would like further information on the Yukon Chapter
please contact
Travis Ritchie.  He will add you to the distribution list to receive
notice of WNC activities and upcoming events in the Yukon.

Do you have ideas for WNC events? Is there a great speaker that is coming to
town that could provide a lunchtime seminar on a topic related to a particular type
of project or to a current impact assessment issue? Are you curious how others
are approaching the challenges that you are also facing in impact assessment?
Are you simply curious and want to know more about the IAIA and/or the WNC?
Please let
Travis Ritchie know if the answer is "yes".
